Shootings of Goal #1

Connecting EU with Youth

VISYON’s local short movie shooting took place between April 22 and April 24 in the capital of Bulgaria – Sofia. It was a lovely experience that enabled the Bulgarian group of young VISYONers to dive deep into the specifics of moviemaking, acting, and planning. They had the pleasure of collaborating with the talented crew of Tanino Films – a professional Italian production company.

The short movie of the Bulgarian Team (Valentin, Mila, Drago, Yanitsa, Elina, Mirela, Mariya, and Svilena) focuses on the first European Youth Goal – Connecting EU with Youth. This goal aims to strengthen the relationship between the EU and young people, ensuring that youth voices are heard and valued in shaping the future of Europe. The film tells the inspiring story of a young boy named Ivan who discovers the wealth of youth opportunities offered by the EU.

Ivan’s journey begins with his participation in the Discover EU initiative, a program that allows young Europeans to explore the continent. Through this initiative, Ivan not only discovers new places and cultures but also develops his competencies as an active citizen. Inspired by his experiences, Ivan returns home determined to make a difference. Despite initial skepticism from his family and friends, Ivan’s passion and dedication lead him to write his own project proposal aimed at inspiring and empowering other young people in his community. His persistence pays off, and his dream eventually becomes a reality, showcasing the transformative power of EU youth initiatives.

A total of four locations were visited during the shoot, each chosen to enhance the narrative and authenticity of Ivan’s journey. Some of the scenes took place in a train depot and at the railway station of Sofia, symbolizing the start of Ivan’s adventure across Europe. Other scenes were filmed in a traditional socialist apartment, providing a backdrop that reflects Ivan’s everyday life and the challenges he faces.

The participants and the team of FECE were more than delighted to share this experience with Tanino Films, who showed incredible professionalism and a personalized approach to working with the actors. The collaboration not only resulted in a compelling short film but also offered invaluable learning experiences for the young filmmakers. Through their involvement in this project, the Bulgarian VISYONers gained practical skills in filmmaking and a deeper understanding of the importance of youth engagement in the EU.

The production of this short movie is a testament to the impact of EU Youth Goal 1, highlighting the importance of connecting EU with youth and encouraging active participation in shaping a better future. The story of Ivan serves as an inspiration to young people across Europe, reminding them of the opportunities available and the potential they have to make a difference.

EU YOUTH DIARY CREATION

Interview Collection Process

VISYON project started with the local training on the 11 European Youth Goals, digital storytelling, and the principles of media literacy. Thanks to these workshops, local groups of VISYON’ers obtained the necessary tools for a good understanding of 11 European Youth Goals, their targets and objectives, and equipped with the essential skills and competencies for the 21st century. To prepare youngsters for the upcoming initiatives – the creation of the European Youth Diary- partners organized workshops on how to effectively conduct the interviews. This step was important for the local groups to understand the interview methodologies, and interview types and to foster their soft skills to successfully complete the challenging task – to collect 267 interviews from young Europeans!

During the summer, the local youth groups around Europe were engaged in gathering testimonials from peers within their local community. These testimonials served as a valuable resource, sharing their personal experiences related to the diverse fields covered by the EYG, and providing insightful recommendations for their improvement. These interviews were conducted to assess the effectiveness of European policies in achieving the 11 Youth Goals and to propose a roadmap for their improvements. The interview database will serve as a base for one of the main project results – European Youth Diary!

VISYON’S Short-Movie Scripts

SHORT MOVIE SCRIPTS

Unveiling European Youth Voices

VISYON consortium is happy to announce the elaboration of the short-movie scripts which were developed by each young local group in the partner countries.

The scripts presented in this document were created by the local groups of the VISYON project established in Greece, Italy, Bulgaria, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain, and Malta. Two additional scripts (EU Youth Goal #5 and EU Youth Goal #9) were created during the Youth Mobility in Athens and have been already shot!

All scripts are dedicated to the 11 European Youth Goals, and each VISYON team had one specific goal they were working on. The scriptwriting process was complex and challenging, as these scripts were based on the European Youth Diary. The European Youth Diary is a result of the collaboration among the VISYON young local groups around Europe, which were actively engaged in the discussion about the European policies related to the 11 European Youth Goals by conducting interviews with their peers. This document presents the voices of 267 young European citizens resonating with a common purpose – to assess the effectiveness of European policies in achieving the 11 Youth Goals, and to propose a roadmap for their improvements.

The European Youth Diary is divided into 11 chapters – one chapter for each European Youth Goal and presents the general overview of the collected interviews and highlights interesting suggestions, stories, views, and recommendations for improvements. After a careful analysis, the country’s scripts are the results of a creative process: to develop the scripts, each local VISYON group, supported by partner organizations, engaged in script writing workshops.

Moreover, to support young people in this challenging task, the team of Tanino Films – a professional movie agency from Italy, was actively involved in the script development process by providing continued support and feedback for the local VISYONers.

Now it’s time to transform the theory into practice and to switch on the lights on the sets. Tanino Films crew is expected to visit each local group to start filming their masterpieces! This trip has already started in Athens, where the 2 first scripts (EU Youth Goals #5 & #9) were shot during the international youth mobility as well as the Greek script (EU Youth Goal #8) after the mobility.

From the end of August 2024, the 11 VISYON short movies will become available for all! STAY TUNED!

VISYON_3rd Press Release

VISYON's 3rd Press Release

The VISYON project proudly announces the completion of the “European Youth Diary” – a groundbreaking compilation born out of the collaborative efforts of VISYON youth local groups across Europe. The diary stands as a testament to the active engagement of young citizens in discussions about the 11 European Youth Goals, reflecting their thoughts, stories, and recommendations.

The European Youth Diary is more than a collection of stories; it serves as a mirror reflecting the current state of European policies. Comprising the voices of 267 young Europeans, the diary aims to assess the effectiveness of European policies in achieving the 11 Youth Goals and proposes a roadmap for improvements.

Divided into 11 chapters, each corresponding to one European Youth Goal, the diary offers a comprehensive overview of the collected interviews. These chapters highlight captivating suggestions, stories, views, and recommendations for improvement. Each section begins with a set of questions posed to interviewees, along with summaries of their answers and noteworthy quotes gathered during the creation of the European Youth Diary. In addition to presenting the goals and objectives, the diary showcases existing European initiatives related to each goal. Surprisingly 72% of the interviewees acknowledged that before taking part in this initiative, they had never heard of the European Youth Goals. Only 9% of the respondents claimed to have a solid understanding of these goals, indicating a notable lack of awareness.

Remarkably, the vast majority of the respondents (80%) stated a strong desire to be more actively involved with these initiatives despite the general unfamiliarity. Furthermore, 80% of the respondents agreed that the EU’s commitments to young empowerment are important and effective, demonstrating the confidence that is placed in the EU’s ability to affect change.
