Moving Rural Youth Forward
VISYON’s local short movie shooting took place between April 26 and April 28 in the rural town of Urlați, Romania. With a population of just over 10,000 inhabitants, Urlați and its beautiful surrounding area are filled with the authenticity of the true Romanian countryside. This picturesque setting provided the perfect backdrop to showcase a compelling story inspired by the Romanian script, created to promote the 6th European Youth Goal: Moving Rural Youth Forward.
The script, crafted by the resourceful VISYONers—Doina, Vlad, Alina, Alexandra, Eugeniu, Antonio, Maria, and Ovidiu—tells the story of Ana and Ion, two young people who return to their hometown after completing their studies in a big city. Driven by a shared vision, they set out to rebuild an old mansion and transform it into a cultural center where young people can gather and connect. Their initiative catalyzes change, as the entire community rallies around Ana and Ion’s success story.
The ripple effect of their efforts is further highlighted by other young characters—Valeriu, Marcela, and Mirela—who find the motivation, tools, and know-how to start their local businesses. Through these secondary characters, the movie emphasizes the broader impact of youth-driven development on the village, illustrating how the community transforms through the determination and creativity of its younger members.
The filming process was also a fantastic learning opportunity for the Romanian youth. They had the chance to immerse themselves in the art of filmmaking, gaining valuable experience from the talented team at Tanino Films. The collaborative effort brought the story of Ana and Ion to life and empowered the young participants with new skills and inspiration.
The participants and the team of MONOMYTHS were more than delighted to share this experience with Tanino Films, who showed incredible professionalism and a personalized approach to working with the actors. The collaboration not only resulted in a compelling short film but also offered invaluable learning experiences for the young filmmakers. Through their involvement in this project, the Romanian VISYONers gained practical skills in filmmaking and a deeper understanding of the importance of moving rural youth forward.
